I’M BACK! And so ready to blog. I can’t believe I missed so many things in just a mere 48 hours! The start of EEC A+B, a state crossing, community service, photobombs, and even a whole blog post dedicated to me?! Happy to be back and captaining the “Good Ship Blog”. Blog, ho!
Cape Cod and Islands (CI): Back on the mainland! These Cape Crusaders are already settled into camp and gearing up for the surf (if weather permits) tomorrow! Don’t worry Mom and Dad, we have already made arrangements to have these guys sleeping away from the weather!
Action shot! Camp Candid! A real picture of what setting up camp looks like at the end of each day.
New England Mountains and Coast (NEMC): Matt and Midge sent us another colorful pic from near the base of Mount Washington. Today’s picture is from the van on their way down east in Maine. I’m surprised these guys are still awake! I was sleepy for two days after Mount Washington… Rafting on ze way tomorrow!
Vermont to Montreal (VM): Gorgeous ride, gorgeous view. Pretty standard schedule for our Vermonsters! Let’s hope that Canada will provide just as nice weather and scenery as these guys will be crossing the border tomorrow!
California Mountains and Coast (CMC): Quick day-hike in Yosemite today; big preparation for back country travels tomorrow! Tonight they will be reviewing some safety tips for the next 48 hours, but mostly spending time getting packed and getting PUMPED to crush the BC.
Caribbean Service Adventure (CSA): Today these vitaminD addicts worked in the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge completing a bunch of different service activities! Today was declared “World Cup day” and Will and Lucy assigned three groups of four students who are working together and will be competing in games throughout the afternoon.
And the teams all came together to weed! Parents, don’t you wish these guys would help out with this stuff so willingly back at home?
Coast to Quebec (CQA): Still trucking through Maine, these guys were psyched to be on the road again and stopped at this beautiful view yesterday afternoon on their way to camp. Between today and tomorrow, these rockstars will have ridden around 75 miles! Wowza.
Coast to Quebec (CQB): Following their sister trip, Pete and Sherry’s group completed their community service today with Coastal Mountains Land Trust! Despite some buggy terrain, these guys found a gorgeous lunch spot by the water and enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pond. I bet that felt super nice on such a toasty day.
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX): Off to Acadia! Marino, Erin and Co. spent some time jamming to sweet tunes in the van to Acadia and, of course, taking a selfie. Upon arrival, they completed a beautiful hike in the National Park.
Montana Service Adventure (MSA): Are those guys in the middle of the road?! Have no fear, these guys posed for this picture for two reasons: 1. To give Chad a heart attack and 2. because they were actually alone on the road for many miles. So cool, they totally owned this terrain today!
At Milford Colony! Those skirts look warm…
Northwest Explorer (NWX): These Northwest Explorers conquered the wind on the ferry yesterday in style and took a break before breakfast to pose for a photo before rafting!
Pacific Coast (PC1): Surf’s up, dude! Sun rays and rideable waves for these Pacific Coasters today! The water was nice, but these guys are ready to get back on their preferred mode of transportation tomorrow… the bicycle.
Pacific Coast (PC2): Border crossin’! Welcome to the Sunshine State. Teamwork made the dream work (get it?) and these riders are looking forward to spending the remainder of their trip conquering the California coast.
Alps Explorer (AX): TMB! TMB! TMB! We started the Tour de Mont Blanc today!! The next 12 days will be spent nursing sore calves and seeing a bunch of spectacular views. Allons-y!
There’s a “T,” and an “M,” and a “B” hidden somewhere in there…
AX leaders Jack and CC documented a surprise visit from 2013 CQ leader Postyn Smith with a selfie! Classic Apogee family making connections all over the globe. (As an Amherst student, I’ll let the Williams t-shirt slide… just this once…)
Europe Coast to Coast (ECCA): Mia and Jeremy’s crew are long into camp and reported a long but awesome day on their bikes. The weather was beautiful in the Netherlands and the group is enjoying their last night in the land of the tulips. Belgium in the “morgen”!
Europe Coast to Coast (ECCB): These european adventurers also enjoyed a long, but beautiful day on their bikes. The coast kept the sweat in check with a refreshing breeze from the ocean.
America Coast to Coast (ACC1): Back on the roads for these Laura and Josh’s team! After an relaxing and well-earned rest day, these guys were fired up for the ride and crushed 50 miles before lunch time!
Mmmm… lunch! Ahhhh…airconditioning!
America Coast to Coast (ACC2): Two fingers up for leader Sam’s 22d birthday! Surprise celebrations and yummies for him to come later tonight…These riders all sported their red-white-and-blue ACC jerseys in honor of tomorrow’s holiday as well as to celebrate their first break from the saddle all day tomorrow!
My apologies for the late post! I was a little rusty and getting back into the swing of things obviously took a little bit today. Happy almost Fourth of July! Can’t wait to see how all of trips will be celebrating!!
