Greetings faithful readers. Kevin here. With our in house word smith, Chad, on his way back from starting one of our New England Mountains & Coast trips, and Sam taking a much deserved day off (on his birthday no less – Happy Birthday Sam!), you for better or worse have me. I was Geology major in college…so writing with an entertaining flair has never been my strength (for the record, Chad was a Philosophy Major). But that’s OK… Because let’s face it, when you get on your computer in the late afternoon or evening to check our blog or the Apogee Facebook Fan Page (btw, if you’re not a Fan yet, please become one), it’s not to read well written prose, amusing anecdotes, or entertaining commentary on trip life (although I have to admit, that’s a major bonus). You want to see pictures of your kids…albeit sometime grainy, pixilated and shadowed pictures…but pictures nonetheless.
We received shots from most of our groups in the field today. The only folks we didn’t get anything from were Mason & Maddie down in Puerto Rico (Mason tried to send a couple pictures but despite repeated efforts, was unsuccessful. We’ll make sure to post something tomorrow) and CC & Jack (who just started their New England Mountains and Coast trip today).
So let’s get to it:
CI:
CI spent their day exploring Nantucket – both the island bike paths and the charming village of Nantucket Center.
CMC:
Our California crew caught an early morning ferry for the Channel Islands. Tomorrow they will paddle their kayaks with guides through some of the most amazing sea caves one can imagine. It’s sure to be one of the highlights of the trip!
CQ1A:
Pemaquid Point Lighthouse – quintessential Maine. Our CQ1A crew enjoyed a picture perfect day of cycling – high 70’s, a light breeze and no hunidity.
CQ1B:
Our CQ1B crew coming through Brunswick this morning on their way to Wiscasset. They looked great and were a very chatty bunch!
DEX:
Our Downeast Explorer crew exploring the islands by boat in Isle Au Haut Bay.
PC1A:
A couple of the girls on PC1A taking a snack and water break. Despite this picture being a little pixelated, how can anyone deny that the route they follow is simply stunning?
PC1B:
A few of the guys on PC1B making friends with a local.
MSA:
Our MSA group spent the day volunteering their time at the Helena, MT Food Share. Well done and a day well spent!
VM:
The first covered bridge sighting of the trip! Vermont is truly a great place to be in the summer.
TSA:
Some of the crew in Spello, Italy! Laura emailed us the following just an hour ago; “We had a great day today. Rode through Spello and Assisi. Had lunch on the edge of a vineyard over looking the valley just outside of Assisi. Enjoyed a gourmet dinner of pesto, mozz, tomatoes, penne and a salad. A game of Ultimate Frisbee before A and P and bed. We are all super excited for the ride tomorrow!”
ACC1:
The ACC1 crew taking an indoor, air conditioned lunch break. Tomorrow the group will enjoy their first day off in LaGrange, GA. Well done, guys. Well done.
ACC2:
Last but not least, our ACC 2 keeps crushing their mileage – they were to their destination by 4 PM. A few of the crew on their hot ride through Georgia.
That’s it for today sports fans. We’ll see you tomorrow!
