Kayaking on Maine’s rocky coast, visiting Iceland’s iconic waterfalls, hiking through the pristine Alps, taking in Alaska’s majestic wilderness… These trips are all so epic, you’ll wish you were out in the field with them!

Alaska Mountains & Coast A (AKMCA)
First on our list is AKMCA! This courageous crew made their way out of the backcountry today, and they’re already itching to head back in! Ever wondered what a day in the life of an Apogee student in Alaska looks like? Today’s itinerary included hiking back to civilization, an ice cream break, then resupplying, showering, and getting prepared for their next backcountry section – a three-day loop through Chugach State Park! Enjoy some STUNNING pics from their first BC adventure!
Alaska Mountains & Coast B (AKMCB)
If you ask us, nothing sounds dreamier than a day of paddling in the Alaskan waters! Our seafaring AKMCBers hit the water today and paddled through patches of fog like true explorers. The group did so in some epic (slightly disguised beneath life jackets) thrifted attire. Tomorrow, they’ll paddle back to Seward – fingers crossed they see some of that classic Alaskan marine life along the way!
Alps Explorer A (AX)
Say au revoir to France and buongiorno to Italy – our AX crew crossed the border today! Another nine miles on the TMB led them to the Italian village of Planpincieux, a glacier-side neighborhood that they’ll call home for three nights. After crushing their challenge day today, this team is ready to kick back, relax, and enjoy a well-deserved rest day tomorrow!
Caribbean Service (CS)
Ever wondered what sets CS apart from all of our other trips? The service, of course! This group fully embraced their trip’s name today, spending both the morning and afternoon dedicating themselves to working with Apoyo Mutuo Agricola, an awesome organization that provides aid to small farms across Puerto Rico, on building new farm roads. After their busy day, the crew headed back to their home base for what reports from the field are calling “Italian night for dinner followed by spa night.” Where do we sign up?!?
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
Our CRMC team is living the pura vida! Wandering through the lush beauty of Cloudbridge Natural Preserve, this daring group conquered another day hike today, ushered along by the unique beauty of the Costa Rican rainforest. They then took on another mountain… a mountain of laundry! After getting some clean clothes, the group packed up in preparation for their hike to Rainforest Adventure Center Expeditions tomorrow.
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
Do our eyes deceive us, or is that one of Iceland’s famous turf houses that our IMC crew is posing in front of? It sure is! And what’s more, they got to take in even more magical waterfalls along their day hike today. What a dream! After sleeping soundly tonight, this adventurous bunch will spend tomorrow wending their way back toward Reykjavik.
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)
Curious if Maine’s lauded Acadia National Park is all it’s cracked up to be? Our DEXA crew can tell you: It’s all that and more! This group made the most of their one full day in the park today as they embarked on their first full day hike of the trip (with four peaks – count ’em!). After basking in the beautiful day Acadia offered up to them, the crew were in their tents early, with the goal of a sunrise hike of Cadillac Mountain tomorrow morning. We’re holding our breath for those photos!
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXB)
One if by land, two if by sea… More like two days at sea for DEXB! This crew traded their hiking boots for water shoes today as they paddled their way out of Stonington and into the cool, calm waters of Isle au Haut Bay. After getting their sea legs, the gang set up at their island camping spot for the night, looking forward to another full day of paddling, exploring, and island-hopping tomorrow.
Northwest Explorer (NWX)
Next up is NWX, and while we wait with bated breath for their photos once they’re back in cell service on Saturday, we know they’re having the time of their lives out in the backcountry. It’s day three of their five-day journey through the pristine beauty of Northern Cascades National Park, and this crew crushed their 5.6-mile hike today! As the park’s picturesque landscape unfolds in front of them, our NWXers are ready to conquer the miles that lie ahead.
Pacific Coast (PC)
Looking for the recipe for one of the most beautiful days on PC? Here it is: Towering redwoods + 60 miles and rolling hills + high spirits = a gorgeous Day 11 for our PC crew. The team crushed their longest day of riding yet, pedaling 60 miles into the heart of the redwoods. Guided by the Avenue of the Giants, the crew finished their day by setting up camp among the legendary trees. Tomorrow, they’ll pedal out of the forest and follow the Eel River to their next destination. P.S. Happy birthday to our PC’s very own ASH!!!!
Pyrenees Mountains and Coast (PMC)
Reports from the field say our PMC team had a stellar day today – no ifs, ands, or buts about it! They spent the morning crushing an eight-mile hike on the Cap de Creus peninsula, which rewarded them with some of the bluest water we’ve ever seen. After their hike, they cooled down with an afternoon at the beach, complete with gelato! Tomorrow, they’ll head over to Espot to begin the next phase of their grand adventure.
Vermont to Montreal A (VMA)
VMA had their longest ride yet today, and they still made it into camp in record time! They were welcomed to the shores of Lake Champlain with clear, bright blue skies which made the 28 miles of scenic farmland and green mountain vistas fly by! This unstoppable crew of cyclists even reached camp with time to relax in the pristine afternoon sun and play a few games. On the docket for tomorrow: a ride into Burlington, followed by an afternoon of community service!
Vermont to Montreal B (VMB)
Talk about picturesque! We can’t help but be jealous of our VMB crew today, who cruised through their 17-mile ride like nobody’s business. In fact, they were so efficient during the ride to Middlebury that they had time to explore the town and campus this afternoon! With another beautiful day of riding in the books, the team set their sights on tomorrow’s ride to Shelburne as they settled in for the night.
