Good evening folks. Kevin here on what very possibly could be my last blog entry of the summer. Chad and Sam will take the blog reins for the rest of this week, and I leave Sunday for San Diego to see our two ACC trips finish. After that, I head to San Francisco to see our two PC groups finish. Very exciting!!
So I was speaking with Michele this morning, and she suggested that tonight’s Blog should be entitled, “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” Michele to me; “You know, like the Dr. Suess book. Have you heard of it?” Me to Michele; “Ah, yes. I read it to Sam and Jack (my little guys) about 20 times a week. I can recite certain sections of the book on request.” And from there the idea was born to infuse passages from “Oh the Places You’ll Go” into tonights blog. Literary credits and inspriation go to Dr. Suess. Let’s give it a shot, shall we?
CI: Oh the places you’ll go! You have brains in your bike helmet, you have wet feet in your shoes, and you can steer yourself to any Nantucket laudromat that you choose. You’re out there on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the crew that will decide where to go.
CQA: You’ll look up and down Quebec streets. Look ’em over with care. About some you’ll say “I DO choose to go there.” With your helmet full of brains and your cycling shoes full of feet, you’ll head tomorrow to your final Quebec City street!
CQB: And you may not find any Jackman, Maine streets to go down. In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town. It’s opener there in the wide open, Canadian air. Oh the places you’ll go!
DEX: On you will go, though your stink from 4 days in the backcountry may be foul. On you will go, though the your Moose impressions will prowl. On you will go, to Flatbreads for dinner tonight to howl.
CMC: You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing some great California sights. You’ll volunteer at a local food bank and soar to the highest heights!
CSA: Oh the places you’ll go! There are black sand beaches to explore. There is Caribbean fun to be done! There are card games to be won.
PCA: And the magical things you can do with that soccer ball (Google Micah Rose – Swarthmore College Soccer) will make you the winning-est winner of all. Except when you don’t. Because sometime you won’t. I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Especially when we don’t receive a blog picture from you. (Cell reception is spotty where they are right now).
PCB: With your bike flags flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high. Ready for anything under a northern California sky. Ready because you’re all that kind of a guy (or gal)!
NWX: On and on you will hike. And we know you’ll hike in the North Cascades backcountry far and face up to your problems (like no showers for 5 days) whatever they are.
TSA: You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll eat gelato in Italy wherever you go. So be sure when you bike. Pedal with care and great tact and remember that bicycling is a Great Balancing Act.
ACCA: Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up the right side of the street with the left. (Parents, don’t read into this. I’m just coming down the final stretch in this blog posting).
ACCB: And will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed! 98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed! Kids you will have crossed a continent by bicycle by this time next week!
So… be your name Manzi, Levine, LeBlanc, or Bray. Or Samuel Wyman Van Ally O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your Apogee is waiting. So…get on your way!!
