It’s one of those bittersweet days in the office! Some trips kept on chugging along, hiking, biking, and doing plenty more awesome things (like a few birthday celebrations!)! Many trips, sadly, also came to an end today, and we are so sad to see them go! However, we know that on every Apogee trip, people laughed, smiled, and made great new friends and awesome memories that will last long after their trip ends! It’s hard to tell if the best thing about Apogee summer is all the spectacular places these adventurers get to go or the fantastic friends they make along the way. Don’t believe us? Alps Explorer (AX)
Today the Alps Explorers celebrated a birthday! They celebrated by starting their first day of the Tour du Mont Blanc!! In addition to saying a hello and goodbye to the pink church (where every AX trip starts and ends the TMB), they saw some stunning views on the Col du Balme and crossed the Switzerland/France border! They wrapped up their awesome day (pun intended) with a wild animal themed birthday party and cake to end the evening. What a great birthday and first day of the TMB!
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)
They say the early bird catches the worm, so these Rocky Mountain explorers must have caught plenty of worms today! The team woke up nice and early this morning in anticipation of their challenge hike. They took on the longest mileage of any hike on their trip today, and by the looks of those happy faces, it was a walk in the park! We can feel the stoke all the way from here in Maine. They celebrated with a delicious dinner in camp, and they’re looking forward to tomorrow when they’ll trade their hiking boots in for some paddles on their rafting adventure!
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
Twenty nine days and seven countries later, the Europe Coast to Coast team has finally achieved their namesake. It is a bittersweet departures day, but in addition to flying back home, the group will also take their memories, strong friendships, and inside jokes with them. What an amazing experience that will never be forgotten! Arrivederci!
Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)
This crew of young authors concluded their scriptorium today and left Maine for home! They worked hard over the past week and were rewarded by fun memories and new friends! We will miss seeing these essayists on the blog!
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
After an amazing 9 days exploring the White Mountains, our New England Mountains and Coast trip has sadly come to a close. While the trip ended, the memories of rock climbing, sea kayaking, and hiking will stay with our groups for year to come!
Northwest Explorer (NWX)
Exciting day for our Northwest Explorers! Today’s to-do list was rafting in the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest! The crew tested their abilities on fast-paced rapids and enjoyed some beautiful scenery with some slower rapids. Finally, the day was finished up with classics games of bear can bowling and soccer, followed by a stunning swim!
Pacific Coast (PC)
California! Today the Pacific Coast crew cruised across the border to the golden state. This is a huge milestone in the three state trip! The kids were ecstatic to bike along the costal roads of California and take in the sun. With more exciting adventures and seeing the redwoods tomorrow, the group had a great night of camp games and a delicious dinner.
