Day 28: Apogee shows its true colors!

The rainbow is made up of multiple colors, each spectacular and unique in their own way, but more magnificent when all together. And it’s the same with Apogee! We love what each trip and each student brings, and we know how strong our whole community is together. Here’s to all the colors of Apogee!

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

Champagne:

It’s time for this crew to celebrate a successful trip with a day out on the town! Today they explored Anchorage and went out for a final dinner before the goodbyes sadly began. This group has a lot to be proud of and champagne is the perfect color for their last day of such an amazing trip.

Alps Explorer (AX)

Orange:

Today this group pushed through the jet lag and explored the other side of the valley on a rugged trail paralleling a swiftly moving river, cascading down the rocks and providing beautiful views for almost the entirety of the hike. They picnicked on a hill full of wildflowers as they embodied the color orange: starting to get excited for the days ahead and beginning to form deep friendships with warmth and enthusiasm!

Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)

Sky (or Caribbean water) blue:

Time to explore that crystal blue water! Starting off the day with a little island-hopping, snorkeling, and wildlife-spotting connected this group even further to the natural world and all of its wonders. This group has been so awesome and open to new experiences, and we are inspired! Sky blue is the perfect color for them. After some water time, they got to explore the 500-year-old streets of Old San Juan and enjoy one last final dinner together- congrats on an awesome trip CSPR!

Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)

Burnt orange:

This group completed their last bit of service this morning with the Ocean Foundation. This group has enacted so much positive change, that they definitely deserve the color burnt orange. After a busy morning, they got to celebrate their accomplishments with a night out and a delicious final dinner. What an incredible trip!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)

Tangerine: 

This group has already brought such great energy and positivity, that the color tangerine felt just right. Today they got to know each other a little better and do an awesome day hike on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Here’s to what is sure to be a trip full of enthusiasm, energy, and play in beautiful places!

Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)

Pink:

After a trip full of exciting adventures, this crew wrapped up with a delicious final dinner. Although today was bittersweet, it was filled with love for the friends they got to make, the adventures they got to have, and places they got to explore. Pink perfectly represents this love and compassion that shone through all trip long!

Europe Coast to Coast 1 (ECC1)

Sepia:

And just like that, this stellar group has only one more day of biking! Today they had a relatively easy ride all the way to Borso del Grappa, where they basked in the warmth of memories and the passage of time– there’s no better color for them than sepia. We know this trip will be in their minds and hearts forever!

Europe Coast to Coast 2 (ECC2)

Teal:

Ever dreamed of biking along rivers and apple orchards in Italy? Well this lucky crew got to do exactly that on their way to Mattarello! Teal is the perfect color for this group– on day 25 of their month-long adventure, this group is the definition of balance and stability, and a lot of growth! No matter what challenge they face, or how steep the climb is, this group is as solid as a rock!

Golden State Adventure (GSA)

Gold:

Gold symbolizes success and let me tell you– this group nailed it! After such a successful 10 days, they got to celebrate in the vibrant city of San Francisco. What better way to celebrate than by delicious food and a final A’s and P’s on the beach? Thanks to this crew for making this the best trip ever!

Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)

Green:

Reykjavik day! Being a city located right on the coast with an abundant Viking history, they had a blast romping around and enjoying the last full day all together. After such a great trip, this crew perfectly embodies the color green: they connected with new natural landscapes, learned and grew as individuals, and are ready to go back to their old lives with new perspectives, memories, and friendships.

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

Yellow:

The morning started off again with some collaborative and productive writing time, and essays beginning to come together! They then enjoyed a well-earned afternoon of picnicking and swimming on the beautiful coast of Maine. Yellow is a symbol of intellectual energy as well as joy, summer, and sunshine, and we know this trip is filled with all of that and more!

Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)

Lemon yellow:

Lemon yellow is fresh and zesty, and this crew is getting a taste of that today with their Acadia bike day! These campers do it all, so they thought they’d give a new sport a try after already kayaking and hiking. And of course they crushed it! They again brought energy, positivity, and joy to their exploration of Bar Harbor this afternoon. Go MCJ!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)

Auburn:

Time to paddle! This group is jumping into their second and final backcountry section of the trip with strength and determination, perfectly embodying the color auburn. With their tired legs getting a bit of a rest, they paddled those strong arms of theirs around the beautiful Isle au Haut Bay, with a night under the stars planned for tonight!

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

Steel blue:

Steel blue is the color of strength and resilience and that’s exactly what this group embodied today- they refused to let the rain get them down, so they rose up and climbed Mt. Willard instead! They played some games, remained in high spirits, and are just ready to keep on adventuring and pushing themselves, with Challenge Day coming up tomorrow!

Northwest Explorer (NWX)

Sienna:

This group doesn’t wait to get the fun started! Today they hiked into Olympic National Park, the only continental rainforest in the US! We are so stoked for them to embark on their first of three backcountry sections and hear more about it when they get back. We’re wishing them the best as they explore new nature and get back in touch with the earth– sienna was the perfect color for them!

Pacific Coast (PC)

Maroon:

This awesome crew tackled none other than the legendary Seven Devils today! Big hills couldn’t deter them though, and they channeled their ambition and confidence to successfully crush the ride! A perfect fit for the color maroon. It’s only their second day of riding, but we have full confidence that they will continue with fervor and have the adventure of a lifetime!

Pyrenees Mountains and Coast (PMC)

Emerald:

Paella in Barcelona?! Sounds absolutely delicious, and like the best way to celebrate the end of a successful trip! Emerald is the color of growth, balance, and harmony– after spending almost two weeks together, this group has definitely grown both individually and all together, and reached a beautiful harmony. This trip was so special, and we know it will have a lasting impact. Way to go!

Vermont to Montreal (VM)

Olive:

Today this crew got to celebrate a successful ride all the way up to Canada by exploring Montreal, our northern neighbors! The color olive is linked to nature, growth, and wisdom, and after 10 days out riding together, we know that each and every one of them has become more closely linked with the outdoors, grown in all sorts of ways, and become all the wiser! A bittersweet final dinner concluded the end of this fabulous trip!
