Day 27 was full of magic, whimsy, and charm on all of our fantastic trips! We solemnly swear that we are up to lots of good, so grab a chocolate frog or some treacle tart and get ready to explore the wondrous world of Apogee!

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
Today, our AKMC-ers showed their true Gryffindor colors by bravely taking on a big day of glacier hiking and ice climbing. They didn’t need any broomsticks or spells to complete their trek, and they are looking forward to a lovely last day of what has been a magical journey. Final dinner is sure to be delicious!
Alps Explorer (AX)
Day 2 in the books for AX! They were awoken by goat bells and a misty morning before embarking on their hike on the gorgeous Sunnegga trail, which gave way to stunning views of the Matterhorn. The day was made even more magical by an evening birthday celebration! As they say in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, “Make a wish, Harry!”
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
Our witches and wizards in Puerto Rico exchanged their wands for tools, and they spent the morning cleaning up a beach, picking up over 50 lbs of trash! Afterwards, they checked out two different beaches nearby and enjoyed some delicious Puerto Rican street food. If that wasn’t a magical day already, they also woke up early this morning to enjoy the sunrise on the beach right outside their hostel! They’re looking forward to snorkeling and exploring San Juan tomorrow on their last full day!
Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)
The U.S. Virgin Islands must have been featured in the classic book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them… Our adventurers spent the day working with the St. Croix Sea Turtle Project, which is part of the Ocean Foundation. Hagrid would be proud of their turtle patrolling skills because they found lots of new green turtle tracks! This evening, they will head back to Sandy Point to see a sea turtle nest excavation and hopefully release some hatchlings into the sea! Between their Care of Magical Creatures sessions, the group flexed their Ravenclaw side when they visited the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts and the historic Fort Frederick.
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)
Today, CRM welcomed their students through platform 9¾ and got their first awesome views of CO. They set up their tents and had a fantastic first dinner, and are looking forward to a magical trip!
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
“Amazing! Amazing! This is just like magic!” is exactly what we thought when we saw our awesome CRMC-ers surfing! They conquered some waves before heading back to their accommodations and getting ready for a great last full day tomorrow. The final dinner ahead promises to be a feast fit for a gathering of wizards and witches at the Great Hall of Hogwarts!
Europe Coast to Coast 1 (ECC1)
The stunning lake at ECC1’s campsite makes us think of the Great Lake, but do not be fooled! While out of picture you may not find Hogwarts Castle, you will find an equally beautiful sight of the many tents of sleepy Apogee bikers, drifting peacefully to sleep after a rewarding day of biking in the Italian Alps…
Europe Coast to Coast 2 (ECC2)
ECC2 finished their ride so early today, you might have thought they apparated! They were in camp so early that had time to swim, sunbathe, and do some bike maintenance. These witches and wizards of cycling are loving Italy even more than Ron loves chocolate frogs!
Golden State Adventure (GSA)
With a swish and flick of their wands, the GSA crew made their way to their Herbology class – I mean, community service spot – this morning, where they worked on some trail maintenance! Tomorrow will be a beautiful day in San Francisco, where our adventurous witches and wizards will enjoy their final full day together!
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
Our IMC witches and wizards were enchanted by the magical waterfalls of Iceland today on their day hike! Their black sand beach picnic certainly felt like something straight out of the wizarding world. They’re enjoying every last moment of this incredible adventure and looking forward to their romp around Reykjavik and final dinner tomorrow!
Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)
The essay-writers on MCCE spent another day putting quill to parchment, channeling their inner Hermione Granger during their additional College Admission Workshop. One student, who happens to be a Brunswick, Maine local, gave the group a “goofy” tour around Hogwarts – *ahem* Bowdoin College. Later, the group took to the pitch. While they didn’t opt for a round of quidditch, they did delight in Alaskan Baseball and Capture the Flag! We know that this group of studious soon-to-be seniors would pass all their Hogwarts exams with flying colors!
Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)
Today, our intrepid adventurers completed a wonderfully enchanting hike before returning to camp. These eager witches and wizards simply cannot wait to start biking tomorrow. Despite the occasional cloud cover, Acadia has been an awe-inspiringly beautiful host!
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)
500 points for DEX! Our crew came out of the backcountry feeling accomplished and sent in those long-awaited photos from their backcountry adventures. They started getting excited about the next portion of their trip: kayaking! Also, don’t be alarmed if you see owls flying by daylight, for today was mail day for this enthusiastic group of witches and wizards of hiking!
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
Today, our enthusiastic NEMC-ers embarked on an awesome adventure in rock climbing! With the spirit of true Gryffindors, they approached this challenge with unwavering bravery, courage, and determination. We missed their pictures yesterday, so Day 27 brings a delightful double-feature showcasing these hilarious and happy hiking wizards in action.
Northwest Explorer (NWX)
NWX spent the day preparing for their epic backcountry adventure, akin to preparing for a daring escapade into the Forbidden Forest. Amidst gathering supplies and ensuring their magical gear was in order, they also took a quick hike! Olympic National Park awaits them! And after battling some flight delays, this group of wizards is finally in one piece. Hooray!
Pacific Coast (PC)
PC had an absolutely stunning first day of riding! It felt as though someone had imparted upon them the magic of Wingardium Leviosa, for they soared effortlessly down today’s route, taking in every breathtaking view that unfolded before them. Each view was more enchanting than the last, confirming that this adventure is destined to be nothing short of extraordinary.
Pyrenees Mountains and Coast (PMC)
PMC had an absolutely beautiful day immersed in the wonders of hiking! Those peaks never disappoint. Tomorrow they’ll head over to Barcelona, the last stop on their magical adventure. Platform 9¾ will soon reunite them with their families, but until then, they’re soaking up every last minute of mystical fun!
Vermont to Montreal (VM)
After a rewarding final day of riding, our courageous cyclists said “Bonjour, Montréal!” They conquered an impressive 37 miles before reaching their hostel, marking this their longest day of riding! What a feat! They’re looking forward to exploring Hogsmeade – sorry, Montreal – tomorrow and enjoying a delicious final dinner together!
