And so it begins! Today is the first day of what is bound to be another incredible Apogee summer, which means that leader training is just wrapping up. Below is a photo taken by our very own Jess Sheldon, featuring the biking leaders playing with sparklers at Pemaquid Point on their training ride, and below that, a photo of the hiking leaders in action, hiking in Mahoosic Notch, the “hardest mile” on the Appalachian Trail.
Other than these shining faces, we already have leaders in Oregon, Montana, and flying to Italy as we type prepared and very excited to meet their groups over the next few days.
AMERICA COAST TO COAST 1: One group is already together, though – our first of two America Coast To Coast trips dipped their wheels in the Atlantic this afternoon! They are playing awkward name games and preparing to begin their incredible journey across the US, led by two of our fearless leaders, Dave and Anna. This group will soon trade sunny South Carolina for (just as) sunny (and significantly less humid) San Diego, with just six short weeks of beautiful (if warm) rides, great new friends, and delicious camp food (seriously!) in between. Below is a picture of their wheel dip at Folly Beach:
We hope to have a few more whole group shots of this trip – we will post them with tomorrow’s blog as they come in!
