Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
To start off the month, our Alaska Mountains and Coast Crew is hitting the backcountry for the first time! Today the group will have fun adventuring through the stunning scenery of Alaska’s wilderness and becoming knowledgeable in backcountry skills. Looks like a beautiful day for hiking!
Alps Explorer (AX)
Our Alps explorers had the most ideal August first, exploring the stunning Vallee des Glaciers and the hamlet of Les Chapieux. In addition to spending the first of the month hiking among the gorgeous Alps, the crew also stumbled upon Notre-Dame de la Gorge, a popular pilgrimage chapel. They did not have cell service today, but we can’t wait to see photos once they do! What a unique beginning to the month!
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
The Caribbean Service Puerto Rico crew is starting off the month with a bang! Today the group was able to cruise the deep blue sea with an epic boat tour. The group was also able to see some postcard-worthy islands and go snorkeling! Swimming in turquoise waters with tropical fish is a start to the month that is difficult to top.
Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)
There is no better way to start the month of August than giving back to the beautiful areas of the Caribbean. Today our crew started off aiding a local conservation organization with trail maintenance. To make their first day of the month was unforgettable, the Caribbean Service and Virgin Islands crew experienced the magic of bioluminescence. Our group paddled to a bio-bay and discovered the glowing pockets of natural bioluminescence. What a day!
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
Beautiful views are the center of our Costa Rica Mountains and Coast crew’s first day of August. The group will celebrate the beginning of the month with their first big day hike in Cloudbridge Natural Reserve. The trails contained sights of magnificent waterfalls and panoramas of the beautiful rainforest. Is there a more ideal August 1st!?
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)
Maine’s Downeast Explorers greeted the first of August in beautiful Acadia National Park. Making an incredible start to the month, DEX summited four peaks: Bard, Parkman, Gilmore, and Sargent! The combination of challenge from the hike and the reward of magnificent views in Acadia made this August first unforgettable.
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
How many people can say they circumnavigated an entire mountain in Iceland? Well, our Iceland Mountains and Coast crew completed this amazing achievement on August 1st! The sights from around Kirkjufell were almost unbelievable with views of the mountain from all angles and some epic sea sightings. So far, August has been an amazing month.
Northwest Explorer (NWX)
Being the amazing group they are, the Northwest explorers are starting off August hiking the backcountry of the glorious North Cascades! The group is making incredible memories hiking through spectacular forests, with mountain peaks decorating the horizon. Gaining backcountry camping skills and experience is such a fun and valuable way to start off the month! We are eagerly awaiting pictures of this magical experience.
Pacific Coast (PC)
The Pacific Coast Crew is living their best August first with one of the most epic bike rides. Today the group biked through the redwoods on a trail aptly named the “Avenue of the Giants” for its spectacular and towering trees. They ended their day with another new experience: camping in the middle of a 2nd generation forest. Will this crew ever have a more exciting August 1st? It’s hard to imagine.
Vermont to Montreal (VM)
Today our crew made the most of August first with an early rise, as they continued their journey to Montreal. To make today unforgettable, the VM crew group spent the day biking through the most picturesque farmland and quiet country roads. This crew made the beginning of August look like a movie!
