- Students interested in a beginner-to-intermediate hiking trip on the West Coast.
- Students interested in an Apogee hiking program but are not quite ready for a backcountry experience.
- Students who love the ocean – taking in spectacular views of it while hiking, kayaking on it, and surfing on its waves!
- Alumni who loved our New England Mountains & Coast or Colorado’s Rocky Mountains trips and are looking for the next step;
- Alumni of our Maine’s Downeast Explorer program looking for a similar program, but in a new and intriguing location!
- Alumni of Vermont to Montreal or Cape Cod & the Islands who love the Apogee community and traditions and are looking to try a hiking program.

- A Hidden Gem: Did you know that Point Reyes National Seashore offers the ultimate adventure combo of sea kayaking and hiking? From coastal forests to pristine waters, you’ll explore one of North America’s most protected coastlines while paddling among bioluminescence and camping under starlit skies.
- Give Back to Nature: After exploring all that Coastal California’s natural areas have to offer, we’ll spend one of our final days restoring habitats at Half Moon Bay with park rangers.
- Hang Ten!: Like a true Californian, you’ll get a chance to ride some waves with the help of professional surf instructors. A great way to learn a new skill!
- Keep an Eye Out for Wildlife: California is home to so much diverse wildlife! We’ll keep our eyes peeled for the local Tule Elk population, black-tailed deer, elephant seals, and a huge variety of birds.
