The title of the blog today refers to a Bob Seger song (rather late middle-period in his oeuvre, but still a classic) that just speaks to so much about our summer — without the Harleys and the references to Apogee-inappropriate habits, of course. OK, maybe it doesn’t really speak to much of anything about our trips, but dang it, we do roll — well, at least half of our trips do. Oh, boy — that kind of day!
We better get to the trips, I suppose!
For our FAIL trips (“Fotos Are In Limbo” — the winning acronym from Kate Harvey, proud mom of a first-half Vermont Hiker ):
CI: Our Capers finished up their second session today — I was able to be there in Boston this morning to send everyone off. As ever, I was so impressed with our students mutual affection after only 11 days together!
PCA, PCB, and NWX are all starting today in Eugene, OR and Seattle, WA, respectively — we’ll get pictures from them tomorrow. Tonight, it’s shaking off the jet-lag and get-to-know you games in the Great Northwest!
TSA: Nick and Cait’s crew climbed up the steepest hills of their entire trip (here on the second full day of cycling ) and are now happily ensconced at a gorgeous Umbrian agriturismo tonight. Tomorrow, they are tentatively scheduled to do service with a small town nearby.
VM: I just talked to Rachel — she, Mason and their gang are cruising into Shelburne, VT and are also looking forward to doing service up in Burlington tomorrow.
CQA: Laura and Pat’s crew have cruised into Camden this afternoon and were busy enjoying an ice cream break on a hot summer day (this pic is, apparently, just pre-ice cream – the expressions were probably even more animated post-ice cream…).
CQB: Hannah sent me this shot early this morning — looks like breakfast is a lively affair around their camp. They send a big Happy Birthday shout-out to Noah, too!
DEX: Nora found just enough service to send me this picture from somewhere in the beautiful Isle au Haut archipelago. Our DEXers come off of the water tomorrow and will be looking forward to some ice cream (and perhaps laundry ) of their own before heading to Acadia on Thursday.
CSA: As is perhaps to be expected in the rain forest, Wyatt, Heidi & Co. had to wait out some rain before hitting the trails in El Yunque today, but when they did, it was to head out nesting grounds for endangered parrots. That’s pretty cool service! Nice “camo,” too, eh?
ACC: Our newly fit-as-fiddles ACCers cruised into Roswell today, where they met some of the more colorful characters in town (and apparently tried to speak the local language ).
