Another beautiful day in Maine and over the hill and dale of the Fiefdom of Apogee! Nick, our twice-over leader of the Coast to Coast trip, called in before two this afternoon to let us know that they had cruised through over eighty miles to get in to La Grange, Georgia well ahead of schedule. The group is enjoying the many warm, welcoming people they’re meeting along their route, and really looking forward to their first day off of their bikes tomorrow. Cait sent in the below shot of the gang posing patriotically (it is almost the 4th, after all) in Barnesville, Georgia.
In the Caribbean, Lidia sent the below shot of her group working with local kids from Vieques to paint the local high school. She said that checking out the school system on the island was a very eye-opening experience for her group. Mike and Annie’s group was on the job today, also on Vieques. They were working on the Wildlife Refuge there, helping to remove an invasive vine from the area. They sent in the second shot below of the post-service hang-out scene back at La Finca.
Corley and Andy & Co., en route to Quebec (apropos use of French, ne c’est pas?), were also doing service today, with the Land Trust up in Camden. They sent in the shot below of their group pausing in one of the green-roofed buildings on the property.
I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to believe that we have a trip ending tomorrow — but it’s true. Our first New England Mountains & Coast trip comes to its conclusion tomorrow after a day of sea-kayaking on Casco Bay today and a big night out in Portland tonight.

Out on the Cape, we heard from Wyatt and Chrissy’s group on Nantucket — they were enjoying perfect summer weather and sent in the below shot of the group enjoying some quality beach time between rides.
