Here we are in September with another amazing Apogee summer in the books! Most Apogee students have made their way back to the classroom by now, with the yearly ritual of back-to-school shopping and first-day-of-school photos behind them. While our summer trips may be done for the year, there’s still plenty going on in the wide world of Apogee. Check out what’s new with our alumni families, our staff, as well as the goings on in the Apogee Office in this installment of Apogee Peak News!
Also, if your Apogee Alum has done something cool or exciting recently (and we know you have!), please send a blurb and photo to jackie@apogeeadventures.com. We love hearing from you!
Apogee Leader Feature
Elijah Sarvey
Elijah’s journey with Wildflower and Apogee can be found on his fundraising page. While his initial goal was $7,600, enough to fund a student’s tuition on our Europe Coast to Coast cycling trip, Elijah has raised over $10,000 for this amazing cause.
Head over to Elijah’s fundraising page to learn more about the ride and to check out his route on Strava!
Apogee Alumni Highlight
Twyla Shand
If you’re looking to pick up some fresh reading material, check out this week’s edition of The Week Junior. We are excited to announce that Apogee student, Twyla Shand, was selected as the Grand Prize winner out of over 1,400 young photographers for The Week Junior’s annual Nature Photo Contest. Twyla’s incredible shot features a beautiful Icelandic horse that ran up to her group this summer on our Iceland Mountains & Coast trip. Congratulations to Twyla on this amazing accomplishment!
Office Happenings
Miles Bent
We are thrilled to celebrate the recent marriage of our very own Assistant Director Miles Bent and his lovely wife, Emily!
Miles and Emily met at Washington and Lee University, both members of the class of 2017. Miles first joined Apogee as a trip leader in 2015, leading our Maine Coast College Essay trip, and returned for three more summers as a leader. He joined our full-time team in January of 2022 when he and Emily moved up to Brunswick, Maine.
We are so happy for Miles and Emily, please join us in congratulating this amazing couple!
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our 2024 summer season – we had a wonderful summer, with groups adventuring across eight time zones, twelve countries, and eight US states! We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you – our amazing Apogee families. Thank you for making the 2024 season a success, and we hope you choose to join us for more adventures in 2025!
