Day 49: It’s the Final Countdown

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I blinked and suddenly it was day 49 of the Apogee summer. How did we get here?! With the help of some pretty amazing people, of course! And one of those amazing people deserves an extra-special shoutout in today’s blog… It’s Director Chad’s birthday! Happy birthday, Chad – I hope you’re happy with a top-notch blog post as your gift.

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Wow, time really does fly! Today was our CI crew’s last full day together, and they made the most of every second. After a sweet ferry ride from Provincetown to Boston, the gang got settled in before hitting the streets for a day of fun and exploration. Tonight, they dined out in the city for their final dinner together before hitting the hay in their wicked cool hostel. We’re so proud of all you’ve accomplished, CI!

New England Mountains & Coast A (NEMCA)

It’s almost closing time for this rockstar crew, but before they say their farewells tomorrow, they squeezed in one last full day of classic Apogee adventuring. The group got up early this morning to hit the water first thing for an awesome sea kayaking session off of Orr’s Island, and the weather was absolutely perfect! After their picturesque morning, our NEMCA gang rolled into Portland for an afternoon of exploring, ending in their final dinner out on the town. Congratulations on an amazing trip, NEMCA!

After a delicious lunch, they took to the water for an epic sea kayaking adventure off of Orr’s Island! Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

I don’t know about you, but I smell some great essays cooking over on MCCE! This crew spent their morning dialed in as they had their last writing workshop, peer editing and making their pieces the best they could be. After saying goodbye to Leah, the team hit the beach for a picnic lunch and a relaxing afternoon of swimming and hanging out. They then headed back to the yurts for some free time to make final revisions on their essays, which they’ll share on their last full day together tomorrow!

Maine Coast Photo (MCP)

It was a picture-perfect day for MCP today! The crew got up bright and early this morning to hit the trails for a photoshoot hike to the beautiful Morse Mountain Beach! After another five-star lunch, our MCPers spent their afternoon having their last one-on-ones with Jamie and making some final edits to all the incredible photos they’ve taken over the week. Tonight, they’ll have a photo slideshow at the cottage in preparation for their art show tomorrow!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)

The time has come to bid farewell to our beloved Downeast Explorers! They closed out their legendary adventure this morning with one last breakfast together before heading their separate ways with all the amazing memories they’ve made over the last twelve days. Great work, DEX – I think we might even have some future AT through-hikers on our hands!
