Smiles, hellos, and trip starts, oh my!
Today, more of our fearless leaders and intrepid students welcomed the dawn of another Apogee summer as seven more trips set off this afternoon. Celebrating the start of these seven amazing Apogee Adventures has left us grateful for all who had a hand in making Summer 2021 a reality.
From parking lots to airport terminals, groups were united from all parts of the country and heading to their first campsites to enjoy an inaugural dinner and settle in for some much deserved rest.
With the first two days of summer in the rearview, we look forward to more joyous trip starts in the days to come!

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)
Riders at the ready! After a successful drop off, including introductions, get to know you games, and gear packing, Cape Cod and the Islands set off on their bikes for the first time this summer. With bicycles packed, tuned, and fitted, it was smooth sailing into camp. They’re looking forward to a beautiful ferry ride tomorrow afternoon. Tally ho, CI!
New England Mountains & Coast A (NEMCA)
Anna and Duncan welcomed their courageous crew with smiles and games this morning as NEMCA began their adventure together. Welcome to all!
Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)
After logging some hours in their very first writing session, MCCE hit the beach for some well deserved sunshine. Sand and smiles for miles!
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)
After braving the heat in Freeport, DEXA headed up the coast to settle into camp. Here’s to hydration, goldfish, and (most importantly) smiling students!
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXB)
Thumbs up for rock and roll! DEXB began their trip today with card games and plenty of snacks, looking forward to many more smiling gems like this one. Tonight the team will head to bed, dreaming of tomorrow’s kayaking adventure!
California Mountains & Coast (CMC)
Welcome to California! After a day of airport pick ups and icebreakers, CMC took a scenic van ride north and arrived at their campsite ready to be relieved of the hustle and bustle of the SF Airport. On the docket for tonight: delicious dinner, dessert, and well deserved Z’s.
Alaska Mountains & Coast A (AKMCA)
Hiking boots in the airport = a trademark of an Apogee trip start! Here’s to successful airport pick-ups and bright eyed explorers. AKMCA headed to their campsite in Anchorage today, ready adventure!
Alaska Mountains & Coast B (AKMCB)
AKMCB snapped this pic in their campsite this afternoon – tomorrow they’ll make their way south to get prepped for some time out on the water. Alaska’s beauty awaits!
